On the same day that the news breaks that the owner of LifeLock has actually has his identity stolen (1 time out of 89 known tries) the Life Connections web site got hacked and all files were erased.

I woke up Thursday morning and began checking the headlines…had to laugh at the expense of a guy who has dared the world with his social security number. Then I tried to check my email. Got locked out. Checked my other email. Same thing. Started to wonder and checked the website only to find it pointed in a different direction. Over the period of the next few hours we were able to regain access and began the process of reposting and rebuilding the website and blogs, but it kinda got me thinking.

What do you put your security in? I haven’t checked Life Lock’s stock yet, but my guess is that prices didn’t raise to high overnight. In the same way, the passwords that I used to think protected things needed to be changed and new security precautions put into place.

Whether it’s a question of eternity or simply whatever struggle you are being asked to trust God with today, where is your security? Is it in yourself? Your methods? Your strength? Or is it in Jesus. The author and the finisher of faith and life.

In an ironic twist there was another headline worth noting in the past few days: “Pilots run out of fuel, pray, land near Jesus sign.” Interesting.

My prayer for you today and for us as we begin the process of rebuilding this blog is that you would stop trying to trust yourself or your efforts, but you would make the choice to place your trust and security in Jesus.
